SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Amanda Rego's triple double helped lead the University of San Diego women's basketball team to an 82-62 non-conference win over the University of Toledo in the Seton Hall Classic Friday evening. Rego scored 11 points, had 10 assists and pulled 13 rebounds to record the first triple-double in program history.
With the win, the Toreros improve to 2-1 overall and will advance on to play host Seton Hall University in the championship game on Saturday at 12 p.m. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 1-1.
Sophomore forward Morgan Henderson scored a game-high 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field and pulled down eight rebounds. Junior center Amber Sprague recorded her first double-double of the season as she scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Kiva Herman was the fourth Torero in double-figures as she had 12 points with an 8-for-12 performance from the field. As a team, USD out rebounded the Rockets 53-27 and shot 40 percent from the field.
In the opening minutes of action it was pretty even keel, then with the score knotted at 4-4, a Henderson jumper sparked a 10-2 run for the Toreros to give them all the momentum. The USD run was capped on a lay-up by Kaila Mangrum.
After a Toledo bucket, the Toreros kept the pedal to the medal as they went on a 14-3 run to take complete control of the game. The Toreros' run was sparked by a Herman jumper and capped on a Sprague free throw.
The Toreros would go on to build their lead up to 27 going into the break at 45-18.
In the second half, the Rockets opened the frame with a 7-2 run, but the Toreros responded with a 6-3 run of their own to regain the momentum and take a 51-30 advantage with 14:45 remaining in the game. San Diego never looked back as they never let the Rockets get to within 20 for the remainder of the game.

For the Rockets, Ali Clifton led the team as she had 19 points and the only other Toledo player in double figures was Tamesha Scotton, who had 14. As a team, the Rockets shot 39 percent from the field.
